A family member has put an illegal mechanics lean on my property for 40 000 dollars for work he claims to have done, as he is not a reg. contractor

The lien you have described would be considered an improper lien as a non-licensed contractor is not protected by FL lien statutes chpt. 713. Typically a lienor will remove/satisfy the lien after receipt of a letter from an attorney explaining the problem with the lien and noting they will be liable for attorney's fees if the attorney has to remove the lien.
