Fraudulent Liens

If we paid a contractor $10,000 towards upgrades in our house, and he then filed a lien against us after cashing the check, and did not deduct this $10,000 payment from the amount he liened us for, would this consitute a fraudulent lien or make it partially fraudulent?

Likely not fraudulent if placing the lien was valid. The issue goes to the contractor's damages. An attorney would have to evaluate the contract and lien, applying Florida statutes and caselaw.
