Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida
If I hire someone to do work in my home that does not need a permit and they get hurt and they have no insurance am I responsible and liable for his injuries. I am considering hiring a person to pull up tile on the floor and want to protect myself. Is there anything I can do like have him sign a waver for him to work and me not be liable.

Yes, you could be liable for any injuries that someone suffers while on your property. Generally a waiver will not protect you sufficiently, and you should require that the person be insured at the very least. It is always best to hire licensed contractors to work on your home even if there is no permit required. A licensed contractor will likely have insurance to cover themselves or employees.
Also, if they are working on the inside of your home, you should make sure that they are bonded as well.
