home owner

i have a home owner who i entered into a cost plus a fixed fee contract and now that he has went over budget he does not want to pay he was able to get copies of every quote and be a part of the decesions and we made the specs as we went. They were paying the subs direct at the end he over paid me by 10k and wants me to know pay the subs. in some cases he even signed the proposal. I said I owe him money but he owes the subs My contract allows for a Mechanic Lein to be filed.

As far as the mechanics lien...Florida law imposes critical deadlines and requirements that must be complied with in terms of filing your Notices to Owner and Claim of Lien. If you are a general contractor in direct contractual privity with the owner then you need to make sure that you file and record a Claim of Lien within 90 days from the last date that you furnished work on the residence.
