Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

I am an independent contractor. I was hired by a general contractor to perform a tile job on a house for more than 1,200 $. At the end of the job the general contractor refused to pay me. There was only verbal agreement but it was done in front of the home owner. Can I put a lien on the general's contractor home? the home owner's home? What do I do? Please help me

No you cannot put a lien on the general contractor's home. As a subcontractor, you have to send the owner a "Notice to Owner" within 45 days before or after starting the work. You have up until 90 days after completing the work to file the lien on the property in which you did the work. Both of these things must be done to be a valid lien. Your other option is to sue the contractor (for breach of contract) and homeowner (as third party beneficiary).
