Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida
Kitchen Remodeling
I contracted with a company for granite countertops, including new faucets and sinks. The contractor has gone out of business and has not paid the granite company for the installation. The granite company is asking me to pay thier portion of the contract. What are my next steps?

Re: Kitchen Remodeling
Was there a Notice to Owner served? Does it comply with all the statutory requirements of Chapter 713? Was there a lien filed? Did you ever pay the Contractor that you were in direct contract with? These questions and more need to be answered prior to determining whether you may be liable.
