lien on my property
i had a person extend my patio at my house ... he apparenty had a concrete truck come out there and pour concrete. ... the guy finsihed the job .. come to find out he has left the country and he wrote the concerete company a worthless check ... i got a letter from therem saying i need to pay since my '' subcontractor'' wrote a bad check .. or they wil put a lien on on my house.. i paid the guy .. i had no idea what reosuces he is using .. should i be worried ?

1) file a complaint with your local state attorneys office for theft. 2) your liability to the 3rd party supplier is dependant upon whether or not a notice to owner was served (as defined by fla stat 713.18) upon you and 3) whether the supplier liened your property and 4) whether or not their notice to owner and lien were sent/recorded timely.
a notice to owner must be sent no later than 45 days from delivery of the material to your project. the lien has to be recorded no later than 90 days after the final furnishing of the material.
