Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida
Lot elevation maximum
Someone bought the corner lot next to my house and their builder dumped 45 truck loads of dirt on the property. The lot height is about 2 feet higher than mine and almost 3 feet higher than the homes across the street. IAW county environmental, the lot height is about 10 inches higer than it needs to be for septic.
I believe this extremely high lot will cause a severe drainage problem for the neighborhood.
Hurricane Jeane left a lake in front of my house half way up to my garage. The people across the street had more flooding in front of their houses than I did. Drainage for the homes across the street consists of an under road pipe that drains water TOWARDS the property under construction. The mountain of dirt almost on my property line will cause drainage problems for my property as well. Water flows downhill.
Are there any laws about maximum property elevation?
This new home is planned to be built 2 to 3 feet above the neighbors and will be a two story..., the only two story in this small neighborhood.
I eventually want to put a privacy fence in between the properties but, now, the fence will have to be over 8 feet high to prevent the new neighbor from looking down and into my proprerty.
There must be a laws
