Let's go back. If you are a licensed contractor doing a job for which you are licensed, there's no criminal liability. If you are not a licensed contractor but the job you are doing does not require a license to perform the work, there's no criminal liability. If, however, you are performing work which requires requires a license, and you don't have one, you may be committing a felony for which you can be arrested. You might have to deal with a civil lawsuit in any of the three situations, though. Good luck.
