Placing a Lean on a Construction Site for non-payment

My husband has a small business in our home designing and detailing steel for construction contractors. He still has not been paid for work on a government contract that should have been paid months ago. His business is in KY and the construction company is in FL. Can he file a lean on the FL assignment in the KY courts?

Good question. Since it is a government project, the property is probably government owned. Under almost every circumstance you cannot lien government property. Under both Florida and Federal law, there is a chance that your claim is secured by substitute collateral, namely a Payment Bond. Unless you are very experienced with Payment Bond law (which some industry professionals are), it may be in your best interests to get some very specific legal advice regarding the particular circumstances surrounding your claim.
