Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida
We signed a contract in April to add a sunroom to our home. Despite repeated calls, they didn't file the building permit until July. Again, despite many calls, they didn't start doing any work until late August. At that time, they demolished the concrete, damaging the home and a new sliding glass door. They acknowledged this and reimbursed the cost of the door. At the time, we did not pursue fixing the foundation of the home. We decided due to their lack of response and damage they had done, we didn't want them to build the sunroom. We told them that verbally and also by certified mail. Three weeks later, they are contacting us saying we have to stay in the contract even though nothing has been built.

I advise you to seek a lawyer in your town who is knowledgeable about construction law. There's no possible way anyone can give you any advice, other than to see a lawyer, without reading the contract.
