Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

Subcontractor charging 2X Contract price

I am having a house built and the contract specified a cost for installing and finishing hardwood flooring. The general contractor hired a sub who ended up sending a bill for 2X the contract price. No notification was provided. Both contractors refuse to negotiate final price. What options do I have?

Re: Subcontractor charging 2X Contract price

I am not sure why the subcontractor is billing you unless the GC never paid his sub. However, this may help you. Go to my website and click on http://www.theconstructionlawyers.com/construction-forms-formslinks.html Then click on DEMAND FOR COPY OF CONTRACT AND STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT. Send this letter and it may help you. You may also wish to send out REQUEST FOR LIST OF SUBCONTRACTORS AND SUPPLIERS.

Good luck,

Randall Gilbert
