Legal Question in Construction Law in Florida

Verizon claims I damaged a underground cable & wants me to pay $1,064.- I know I didn't damage their cable. I sent them pictures of where I dug my holes & how far it was from the repair. The dig site was marked with flags ( the landlord called, not me). My question is, what should I do? They say I have about 4 days left to pay them or they will persue legal action. HELP PLEASE

Due to the amount of the claim, this is a county court action in which you could represent yourself. If you feel you have the evidence to show you did not damage their lines, you can fight it. Take a lot of pictures and ask them to show you photos of how their lines were damaged. You could also take the settlement approach of just offering $300 or $400 and see if they take it and just move on. The burden of proof is on them to make there case and prove it was you that damaged the line.
