Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
While attaching a rental trailer to my vehicle at a national rental outlet an employee switched fuses in the fuse box under the hood rendering my vehicle nearly undriveable. The next morning it cost me $99.95 to have the car dealer's shop diagnose and correct the problem. Five days later I visited the rental outlet and asked the employee to refund the money I spent correcting the problem I and the car dealer's shop believe was caused by him. I gave him a copy of the bill provided by the shop. He said he could not simply give me a hundred dollars. That he would have to speak to his boss about the matter. If my request was refused, I led him to believe I would go to small claims court. He said he didn't like threats. I told him it wasn't a threat but the next logical step.
Have committed any crime??? i.e. extortion? Thank You

No, you have not commited any crime. You probably should have called them to fix the car before having it done yourself, but you have not engaged in any illeagal conduct.
No, but you should call and speak with someone in charge. I'm sure he can't just give you the money, and probably doesn' t want to own up to the mistake.
