Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

auto dealers

The Florida Motor Vehicle Dealers' Handbook states under ''Proof of Insurance Registration Requirement''-320.02(5)(a), F.S. that proof of insurance must be verified by the dealer before the first temporary tag is issued.

What is the definition of ''verified''?

Does that mean that they have to verify existing coverage on the new car or just proof that the customer has insurance?

Re: auto dealers

They just verify that the customer has coverage, usually by looking at and copying the insurance card, because when you buy a new car the existing coverage you have covers the new vehicle for a period of time (I am pretty sure it is 30 days).
