Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
Auto Finance
I purchased a used car from a dealer in Hollywood Florida on July 3rd and I called them today on July 23 requesting status on my tag and was informed that they have not found me a finance company to approve my contract and they are requesting additional down payment. Can they do this? They want me to sign new paperwork and give an additional down payment if I do this do I have any garrantee the deal is final?

The devil is in the details of the agreement. Generally speaking, no they cannot do this. This generally called "yo yo" selling. They have you come in and take the car and then say financing is no good and they want to rewrite the contact and get more money. This is a violation of law if that is what they are doing. see www.
