Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

auto mechanic ripoff

I took my 1992 buick roadmaster to a local dealership to have the rear right window fixed. I knew that the motor was not broken and that the problem was simply that the window was off the track. I told the service tech. that I wanted to have the right rear window fixed that the motor worked and I believed the window to be off the track. After about half hour the tech. told me (without taking the door apart)that the motor to both windows were broken! Of course he was showing me that they weren't working, but he had no power going to the windows. When I turned the car on and showed him that the motors worked he got angry and refused to do the work I requested. My questoin is can I put a notice in the paper to warn other consumers of this type of scam considering that this dealership is a very big dealer ship for our area!

Re: auto mechanic ripoff

You need to be careful taking an action like that because you run the risk of being sued for libel. If you are unhappy you should contact the Better Business Bureau and report the behavior. You can also ask if there are any other reported complaints. If you are intent on making a public report you could contact your local paper and see if they would be willing to run a story, but I would not take the ad out yourself.
