Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

Back in June my fiance and I bought an Xbox 360 Slim. Recently, we had problems with connectivity so we sent it in for repair under warranty. He was notified later that they weren't going to repair the console due to "evidence" of tampering. The serial numbers do not match so they have cancelled the warranty. They have returned the console and told us the we can file a dispute. This, however, has not helped our situation at all since no one will look further into the matter to find out if this mismatch is error from factory. They just believe it's been tampered with, end of story. At this point we are at a loss and do not know what else we can do. Do we have any rights? How can we get this resolved in an ethical manner?

Since it was only 3-4 months ago that you purchased this item, you no doubt have the receipt for this. Take it back to the store, if you truly believe that the factory mismatched your warranty information. If you don't have the receipt, then you must have a VISA or a cancelled check to show where you bought this item. If you purchased this with a VISA, you may be able to file a disputed payment if the manufacturer and or store is not honoring the warranty.

If you bought this from a "friend" or from a dealer who doesn't deal in goods of this nature, then you may be out the cost, or you will have to pay for the repairs.
