Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
Bank safety deposit box drilled opened
My bank that I have been a member with for many years, drilled open my safety deposit box. I did not give permission.
They claimed they opened it because they had no record of the owner on file. Finally the bank called me to ask me to come down to the bank and verify the contents in the box.
I verified the contents and nothing was missing.
The bank asked me if I was satified, I told them ''I'm not sure'' and had me to sign a document stating after I reviewed the contents that none where missing.
Now keep in mind, I visit my bank once a month to make regular deposits in my checking account.
I have opened the safety deposit box maybe 3 or 4 times in a 10 year period. My question is was this legal?
What are my right? What can be done?

Re: Bank safety deposit box drilled opened
You already acknowledged that nothing was missing therefore you have no damages, and thus no case as I see it. If you are interested in pursuing any administrative claim you can contact Florida's Department of Banking and Finance. Good luck,
