Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
My brother is considered to be a semi-pro gamer and enters video game tournaments throughout any given year. It has pretty much been his career choice for the time being and has been for the past couple of years. In May of 2008 he participated in an online video game race car tournament through xbox live. He ended up winning first place and was supposed to receive a $1,000 check as the grand prize. He kept in touch with the company who was in charge of executing the contest for the client and filled out all of the necessary documentation shortly after winning said contest. He was then told they would let him know when they received the check and would send it to him. This never happened.
About 3-4 months ago I tried speaking to a representative and a manager at this marketing company to let them know of the situation and to get it resolved. They verified that a check was never cut for him and that he did file all of the necessary documentation correctly. However, after these 3 or 4 months I am still getting the same response... They have forwarded the information to the client and are awaiting some type of response or resolution.
It has been over a year since he actually won this tournament AND I have been in touch with the marketing company through phone calls and email for at least 3 months to no avail. Is there anything we can do to finally get him his winnings? Or will I have to continue calling and emailing until something happens?

I would contact the consumer fraud division of the Florida Attorney General's office. See my web site for the links and federal links also. This is an unfair and deceptive trade practice.
