NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

This appears to be the second posting of the same question today with a few words changed. Generally, a store is able to duplicate a receipt on a high ticket item if it is needed to obtain a repair. If you charged the purchase on a credit card, you can usually obtain a copy of the charge slip which is often one and the same as the receipt in today's business world but calling the customer service number of your credit card company. They generally charge a small fee but will often waive it if you have not abused this privilege in the past.

As to the second part of your question, there is no specific state law on electronic exchanges. Stores are generally required to post their exchange policies.
