Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
I want to cancel this contract with a gym that is 2 years. when i read the contract, the only terms of canceling is moving 35 miles away or the facility relocating 5 miles away. There is no early termination fee that i can pay to get out of it. the contract states that i cannot cancel except of whats on the contract. Is there a florida law that might help me find a way to terminate the contract even if its a fee?

Read it carefully, does the contract say "not to exceed 24 months"? If so, then you are probably on a month-to-month. This is typical with gyms. They lead you to believe you are in a contract, when you're really not. Also, does the contract say it's page 1 of 2 and then you were not provided with a copy of the second page? If so that may be a basis to cancel because you were not provided with the full contract and did not agree to it. Try giving them 30 days written notice and make sure you note on the bottom of the letter that a copy sent to the Florida Dept. of Consumer Affairs (and actually send a copy to them). See what happens. They might let you out of it.
