Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

I took my car in to an auto repair chain for a tune-up. The mechanic broke a spark plug when attempting to remove it. To get the rest of the spark plug out, the entire engine needed to be pulled as well as the A/C, struts/shocks, wheels, ABS/brakes, etc. In other words, lots of hoses and parts were taken off and put back on during this tremendous undertaking. The shop manager 'magnanimously' offered to cover the cost of the engine pull because I'm a regular customer (never mind that I've been without my car 4x longer than I had planned). However, when I asked what the warranty would be I was told there wouldn't be one as they didn't replace any of those parts. It seems to me that I should get some assurance in writing that, should something go wrong in the next couple of weeks, the shop will fix it. Is that correct?

You are not entitled to a warranty. If they did something that caused it to break, they are responsible.
