Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

do i have a case

About a month and a half ago, I had about $850 worth of work done on my car. Included in this work was an oil change. Today, as I was driving down the road, I heard a knocking sound, so I went to a service station to have it checked out. I was informed that my drain plug was missing from the car, which has led my car to become completely drained of oil. Apparently, this is not a problem that could occur from driving, but from a lack of tightening it whilst being serviced. This has caused my engine to have substantial damage. I have not had my car worked on since the work had been done. I contacted the owner of the shop where the work had been done. After speaking with the owner of the shop, he denies having any liability for the problem. From a legal standpoint, what can I do? Small claims? Attourney?

Re: do i have a case

You can retain counsel or go to small claims court. Either way you will need an expert witness to testify as to the cause and nature of the damages. You will also need an expert to testify as to the amount of damages you sufferred as a result of the defendant's actions.
