Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
Computer given as a gift
A computer was given to me as a gift but purchased on a Dell credit account for approximately $1,000 total. The Dell account is in the other individual's name only and is not a joint account. I was helping to make the payments because we were in a close personal relationship; however, approximately 2-3 months later the relationship ended with no possibility of reconciling. Since the computer was given to me as a gift and I have possession of the computer, do I have any responsibility in paying the debt that is owed or does the accountholder alone have full responsibility for this debt? Is he allowed by law to take the computer back and can he also take me to court regarding this debt? Thank you for your help.

Re: Computer given as a gift
If it was a gift, it is yours. If not, then you may have some liability.
