consumer rights
we had direct tv hooked up to our home after 6 days of it not working correctly and having our tv shut down completly we told them just to take it out and now they are saying we owe a disconnet fiee of 237.00. We were never told of this fee when we signed up or do we have any paperwork saying this. Do we have to pay this fee?

Re: consumer rights
NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.
It is probably in the "small print" of your contract. If you do not pay the fee, they may file suit to collect the same. You need to review the terms of your agreement and see exactly what it says. Further, by demanding that "take it out" you breached your agreement with them. As such, unless you can convince the company that they breached first by failing to provide the contracted for service, then you may be forced to pay to avoid legal action.
