deposits and their return
I put 2000.00 down as a deposit on a potential purchase of a boat but I made it very clear if my transon was good on my boat all I would be buying is a motor and not the boat.
They are saying that they will return 1000.00 now and the resat when they sell the boat. what are the rules governing deposits?

The rules governing deposits would be found in the written agreement that you signed. If you have not read it yet, that is the first place to start.
