Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

direct tv bogus charge

Ive had direct tv for over 10 years. about 2 years ago we got a second box for the bedroom tv. I was charged 5 per month extra. I dropped direct tv this year due to cost. They told me i had verbally agreed to keep the 2nd box for 18 months. I dont ever remeber this agreemnet and asked for a signed copy. Well they said it was verbal and this agreemnet was on my very first dtv bill. they want to charge me 20 per month i was short. So i had it 14 months, so 80. I refuse to pay this its a scam. They have now sent to collection agency.

Re: direct tv bogus charge

Write the agency when they send you their standard collections letter and dispute the bill. Ask for the written documentation for the bill. They won't be able to produce it because it does not exist. If they give you the "it was verbal" just tell them it was not and if they want to sue you to go ahead and try.

This is a violation of the unfair and deceptive practices act. see www.ConsumerLawyerHelp.com. Request all your money back that you have paid and tell them they are in violation of law. Probably a good class action case in the making. Send letter of verification in web site above.
