Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
I hired a Roofing Contractor, licensed in the state of Fla. to replace my tile roof with a metal one. I gave him a deposit towards the work ($7000 on a $15000 contract). The contractor never did any work and has not refunded my money. I sent the contractor a cert. letter cancelling the contract and asking for my deposit back. No money was returned. The Fla. AGO looked at case and said that they would not grant arrest warrant because I did not give the contractor sufficient time to begin the work? It has been two years since the contract was signed and the deposit given. Is there anything that I can do? Is this not a violation of the Fla. Statute 489.126?
