Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
My husband and I recently moved to Florida from Seattle, WA. We had to sell our condo in Seattle via short sale. Now Bank of America is trying to collect on the balance. On the advice of a short sale negotiator we hired, we felt we had to sign the short sale agreement stating that the balance would be "collectable". We tried to contact a foreclosure attorney in Washington to see if we have any options and they told us to check with a Florida attorney to see if there are any laws in Florida that could protect us from Bank of America.

Nope, none that I know of. If you sold your house and couldn't pay off the entire debt, you still owe the Bank.
