Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

Legality of ''in store credit only vs. store refund

I have received a Christmas gift of white gold earrings from my husbamd. The price is just under $900.00. We cannot afford such a luxery. I believe he got caught up in the moment of holiday spirit and

regret that we must return the item for full credit. The sales slip indicated ''in store credit only''. Is there any legal way of getting a full refund? How does Florida law cover this situation? Thank you very much.
