Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
no lemon laws for boats?
My girlfriend purchased a boat as is and discovered the hull had a crack in it. She wants to return it and the man told her no. I understand ''as is'' means ''as is'' but are there any laws protecting the consumer when they get sold damaged or unsafe purchases like this? The fact it is cracked was never disclosed.
The boat is not even safe to operate and would cost $19,000 to fix. Please advise!

If it is a new boat, then you have a warranty claim probably. If used, as suggested, and sold "as is" then you are almost certainly out of luck. As is means as is. You might have a way around that if you can prove actual fraud, but that is a long shot. Before buying "as is" you should always have the item thoroughly inspected for defects. Lesson learned.
