Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
I had a licensed contractor come to my house to wrap my facia board and soffits in vinly siding. I had him return to the job for minor repairs-- rotten wood that was not replaced, loose siding, exposed cables that were suppose to be covered by the vinyl. He was hostile and verbally abusive when he had to return for these repairs, so he raised the price and demanded payment on the spot-- even though there was some rotted wood he said could not be replaced. He claims he is going to put a lien on the house and charge me $1000 to remove it. Can he do that? Can't I just file to set aside the lien?

The contractor is talking about filing a mechanic's lien. If he does lien your property, you have rights and if he wrongfully placed a lien you your property, you can get attorney's fees and costs if you win. see ConsumerLawyerHelp.com
