Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

i moved out of an apt, where i was paying for water apprx. 38.00 monthly, imoved out and got an e-mail that my final water bill was $185.40 from 7/24/09-8.11/09, since my husband and i stayed at a new home we just closed on from 8/2/09 till 8/9/09 i came back for the movers on the 10th aND MOVED OUT. i paid my rent thru sept. per my lease agreement. but this bill is way off , i've called and spoke with asst manager and she said she would look into this matter and call me back the next morning, that was tues. and i have not heard a word, i have called and left messages what can i do?

Interestingly enough, a very similar situation happened to me. I suddenly had a $400 water bill for a one bedroom condo after I moved out! I must have been billed for the whole building.

Keep calling. The assistant manager may not know why or how this happened. Are you billed by the apartment complex or the local utility company? You may need to take up the issue with the utility.
