Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

Does paid in full really mean zero balance?

When going for an MRI, I was told that a discount would be given for payment in full, bringing the cost down from $1440 to $900. I paid $900 at the time of service, was given a receipt showing $900 due, $900 paid, and balance due of zero. Now I am being billed for an additional $540.28. Is this legal? If I have a receipt showing a bill is paid in full, how can I be billed for an additional amount?

Yes, paid in full means you owe no more. If demands are being made upon you, they violate the provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You should consult with a competent creditors' rights atty to discuss the means of protecting your rights. You may call me.
