Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

If I got a phone call and the representative is gathering information for my college for the Alumni Directory and I'm asked if I want to put one on reserve, am I obligated to buy this directory if they just ship it to my home? I received several emails stating a deadline to pay for the directory, but since I changed my mind, I never responded to any of the emails or made a payment. The company is now saying that since I had the directory for over 30 days, it cannot be returned. I never opened the directory or the envelope that came with it. I just want to ship it back just like it was mailed to me. If they had communicated to me that I was obligated to purchase the directory by putting on reserve, I would have never told them to put one on reserve. Please let me know if I can return it without them turning my account over to a collections agency. Thank you in advance for your legal assistance.

If you reserved one, that was like ordering it. Seems pretty straightforward. When it arrived, there was no reason to not immediately return it. By reserving a dire3ctory, they printed one for you. To me, it is too late to "unorder" after the fact.
