Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida
I returned my leased SUV to the lender's agent on time. Prior to the vehicle being returned it was inspected by the bank's auto inspection service and I was informed there would be no charges assessed to me for excess wear and tear. I returned the car two weeks later and was informed the bank was charging me $1,600 for excess wear and tear. Obviously I feel this is unfair and deceptive. Not only that but they are charging me interest on a monthly basis for the outstanding balance. I am interested in your opinion if I have a valid point of protest since the bank's inspection service told me no excess wear and tear charges. Thanks.
1 Answer from Attorneys
First, look carefully at the agreement to see if such a charge is automatic. Second, if it is not, get a copy of the auto inspection performed. Got to bank and see manger and work it out. If you cannot, then see an attorney who handles these types of cases.
