Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

Sale of my boat

If you sell a boat here in Florida to another party in as is condition sale final, and boat was operating up until we sold it, and after they bought it, the boat engine broke down, do they have any recourse at all in court? We told them to have it checked out by a mechanic, and they never did. After they picked up the boat to and drove the boat to their destination, it broke down, and now they are trying to sue us for practically a brand new boat. We have an attorney, and we are not quite sure he knows how to go about resolving this matter other than going to court($5,000)fee or paying them some kind of restitution. We are seniors and don't have that kind of money. Please tell us what we can do. We sold the boat with all good intentions. Thank You
