Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

signed credit card receipt and billed totally differant amount

purchased an item with my credit card. The item was scanned, I signed for the amount of $138.00 approximately. A few days later I was checking my account on line and found another charge for $1200.00 from the same store. I was there only once. I put in a dispute with the credit card about the charge, they got back with the merchant and were told an error had been made and I was responcible for the $1200.00 charge. The credit card company says I have to pursue this on my own. What are my rights?

Re: signed credit card receipt and billed totally differant amount

There must be more facts. Merchant agreements for credit card processors typically require a signed slip showing that you charged the agreed upon amount. If you would like to discuss the matter further you may contact the undersigned at (305) 769-3000.
