Small Claims Court - Do I need to be present if I'm live in CA?

I am going to sue my moving company for approx $1500. I live in California, the transaction originated in Massachusetts, and they are located in Florida. Is my attendance in court necessary or can I sue via correspondence? If so, where is the best place to sue, CA, MA, or Florida? Also, is the judgment easy to enforce if held in CA or MA?

I can only speak for California. You can sue the company here, because they entered the state to do business (that is, they delivered your furniture). You may want to look at your contract to see if there was a place named for suits.

Also, you might want to see if they have assets within California that you can attach. If not, check the rules for default judgments in other states, and how they are handled.
