Legal Question in Consumer Law in Florida

Writen Contracts Or Estimates

I purchased a piece of land in Florida on the internet, the seller claimed to be a builder in NC & his father was a builder in Fl.

So before we signed the contract, we asked the seller(due to limited funds) what the cost to build a property on the land would be and to also include the cost of a pool, as he was a local builder he should know.He said if we wanted him and his father to build it it would cost $100,000 + $5,000 for the pool, based on these figures we signed the contract, we then asked if he would do just part of the works and I would complete the rest, he said he would be glad to , so we set up to meet him or his father in Fl. again he agreed to meet.So we travelled to Florida to meet to discuss, he refused to meet saying he was in the business of selling land not building homes.Does this form of quote constute a contract? As we have since found out the actual cost would be $150,000 some $45,000 higer and out of our budget.

Re: Writen Contracts Or Estimates

Your question is a bit confusing but ultimately I would need to see the construction agreement you entered into with the contractors. Unfortunately at this stage I have many questions for you. If you desire to further discuss this matter then contact my office for a telephonic meeting.

Sincerely,

Randall L. Gilbert
