I have a 2-1/2 mo. old hospital bill of over $9,000.00 & only have a little over $7,000.00 in my savings acct. Can the hospital conviscate my savings to pay part of this bill?

I am living on a fixed income, & have no health insurance. Thank you for your help.

Agreed, and you may contact them and make an offer to settle the bill. Many

hospital bills are settled for much less than the total. Generally, the hospital does

not want to litigate unless it's the only option.

Under the circumtances, you should check with their indigent services offices and see if perhaps part of the bill can be dismissed and a pay arrangment for the balance. However, be aware that if they go the full route and get a judgment against you, then yes they can go after your savings.
