Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
About 3 months ago I had to leave my job and move in with family. I became disabled and could no longer afford to live on my own. I have a credit card that became overdue and with no income I can't afford their minimum payment of $100. A manager told me they can't take anything less than the 100, and that he had no sympathy for my situation, and hung up on me. He later spoke with my father (without my knowing or permission), who is no where on my account. My father apparently agreed to a payment because I got a letter thanking me for the agreement. My father may lose his house because of his own credit cards.
My father does not know my social or my account number.
I was wondering if the credit card company has a right to have spoken with him.

This is a clear violation of the act. See my website under collection violations. You have a claim against them based on the limited facts given to me. Want to know the law? No, they may not speak with him. This is as Mr. Marino states, a clear violation. Let them know in no uncertain terms that you intend to sue them. I bet they cancel your card.
