Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

2nd forclosure

I am interested in purchasing a home at a sheriff auction in the state of Florida. It is a second mortgage. My question is, If I purchase the home through the sale, will it eliminate the first position, or will I still be responsible to satisfy the 1st lien, if the 1st lien holder dose not bid on the house?
