9 Year old Medical debt

Are there any limitations on time for debt a collector to collect a questionalbe debt? It was over 9 years ago according to them for a medical bill. I only keep records for 6 years or so. I have no proof it has been paid. Thanks

Ask them to provide proof of the debt. Under the Fair Debit Collections Practices Act, they have 30 days to do. If they cannot, they must stop all collection procedures.
