Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida
After 6 years, I believe that I have successfully proven to the debt collector that the debt is not my responsibility, I got a letter saying the debt was being released back to the original debtor without any rationale. Am i going to have to go through all of this again with another collection agency?

You do not have to prove it to them, they have to prove it to you. But you must request verification of the debt. If another collection agency contacts you, request verification of the debt.
You say:
"...the debt was being released back to the original debtor..."
Did you mean original CREDITOR? If the debt is being released back to the original debtor, that sounds like they're satisfied you've proven your case.
Mr. de Groot's answer is also correct. You have rights under federal and Florida law. If you feel that you are being harassed, intimidated, or deceived by the collection agency, you should call someone familiar with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. FDCPA cases are generally handled on contingency, meaning no costs or fees to you unless you recover money at judgment or settlement. Feel free to call me at 850-778-1355 for a free consultation.
