Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Accepting Co Applicant's signature

I am wondering whether there are any specific rules foraccepting a co applicant's signature? For example, is a business required to have the purported co-signer personally appear to show identification and to sign the required paperwork to purchase vehicles?

What remedy do I have when someone produces a photocopyofmy drivers license and eithersigns themselves of has someone else sign my name to purchase multiple vehicles from the same dealership?

I would appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction. I thank you in advance for your time.

Re: Accepting Co Applicant's signature

You are referring to 'fraud'. if you can show that it was not your signature, then the seller may be liable to you for any damages and costs you may have incurred.

There is no specific procedure a seller must pursue to verify your signature, but they may still be found liable for negligence if they 'close their eyes'.

Does the identity thief have a physical description similar to what is on the identification?
