Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

You'd advised that in a credit situation, an attorny can put a levy on your bank account - my question is - how does an attorney get your bank account information? aren't there privacy laws?

There are no laws that make your bank account information (with the exception of your social security number) a secret. There are many ways that attorneys get bank account information. Sometimes they'll take your deposition or send you a form (Form 1.977) that forces you to give your bank information. Other times, they can be sneakier, like sending you a small check from a fake prize company. When you cash it, they can see what bank you have an account at.

Most judgments are followed up with an Order from the court to complete a "Fact Information Sheet" which is l.977 for civil suit or 7.343 under Small Claims. Also the information can be obtained through depositions.
