Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

How To Answer A Summons

I received a summons on 4/12/03 from a credit card company that I was being sued for nonpayment of my credit card obligation. It states that I must file a written response to the plaintiff's attorney. I need to know how to write a response, and secondly, do I file a response in my county where I live or send the answer to the plaintiff's attorney or both? I am very strapped for funds, (thus the legal action)I cannot afford an attorney for this. What might be the possible outcome for this case? Can they garnish my wages? Please help. Thanks for your time.

Re: How To Answer A Summons

You file a written answer to the complaint by mailing a copy to the attorney and filing the original with your proof of mailing with the clerk of the court. If they obtain a judgment against you they can garnish a portion of your salary.
