Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

apartment collection six years old !!!!

I was evicted from an aprtmt under a 7 day notice(which is not legal) b/c of noise reasons that were not made from my appt. I got an attorney b/c of the eviction and b/c they were claiming a debt of over $1800 in charges for the lease. I did not pay them b/c of the illegal eviction! my account went to collections and they broke many laws on the fair debt act . My lawyer sent letters to the collt agency telling them they broke the law and the collection was invalid . After the lawyer sent the letters, the collection agency stoped calling or trying to claim the debt! almost 5 yrs later another collections agency wants only 247 for cleaning charges and the term fee of $1800 has been scratched off in pen on the document that was sent to me by the collections agency.none of the numbers on the new receipt add to 247 and the recipt shows that they took my $225 deposit(without notifying me ) and put it towards rent due after i moved out It is a sticky situation but I need help? I have contacted the collections agency too many times and they will not help.Do I pay? Is the statue of limitations up or do they start over if it is sold to a second ageny please help

Re: apartment collection six years old !!!!

On the surface, it seems that the statute of limitation has expired. You may have a valid FDCPA claim.
